Panic Attacks & Panic Disorder: coaching enquiries from across the UAE
Many people enquire after their first frightening episode, often after an emergency-room visit that found nothing physically wrong. Coaching offers a structured way to understand the fear response and reduce the grip of anticipatory dread.
Understanding the concern
Panic often arrives with a racing heart, breathlessness, dizziness or a sense of unreality, and is frequently followed by fear of the next attack. That anticipation can start to shape routes to work, meetings, driving on busy roads or time spent in malls.
In coaching, the focus is on how the threat response has been learned and how day-to-day reactions to sensations may keep it active, using the TRT principles taught by the Institute of Applied Psychophysiology.
What an enquiry might involve
- 01A short written or WhatsApp enquiry describing how long panic has been part of your life and what it now stops you doing.
- 02Confirmation that physical causes of symptoms such as chest pain or palpitations have been checked by a doctor.
- 03A conversation about which coach and session format (Zoom, phone or FaceTime) suits your schedule.
Practical session expectations
- 01Sessions explain the physiology of a panic response in plain language so sensations become less mysterious.
- 02You will usually agree practical daily steps to practise between sessions, reviewed together each time.
- 03Progress is gradual and individual. Setbacks are normal and discussed openly rather than treated as failure.
Worth discussing with your doctor or practitioner
- 01Any new or changing chest pain, fainting or palpitations, even if you suspect anxiety.
- 02Current medication and whether any changes should be made. Never stop prescribed medication without medical advice.
- 03Caffeine, stimulants or supplements that might contribute to symptoms.
Suitability and boundaries
Coaching may suit adults who have had physical causes ruled out and want an educational, structured approach. It does not diagnose panic disorder and is not a substitute for medical assessment or psychological treatment where that is recommended.
Coaching is educational support. It does not diagnose, prescribe or replace care from a doctor, psychiatrist or licensed psychologist, and no particular outcome or timeline is guaranteed. Condition names on this site describe what people tell us they are experiencing, not services that diagnose or treat those conditions.
About the approach
LAR coaches draw on Threat Recalibration Therapy (TRT) and the related HSF framework, which were developed by and belong to the Institute of Applied Psychophysiology. Descriptions of TRT and any programme figures are the Institute's own. You can read the Institute's material directly:
